The Germans are in retreat in Russia, and the 22 German divisions in the Stalingrad area, what's left of them, are trapped. Yesterday's rash of rumors left me groggy: The Italians have sued for peace, according to three reports from widely separated parts of Manila. Japanese pilots are being recalled from the Philippines. We'll get independence in April because the Japanese want us to fight. The reason the Japanese prefer strongly built houses is that they expect to make a house-to-house defense. |
