Corregidor still stands. Schaer saw at least 60 trucks loaded with large folding boats (each capable of carrying 10 men), six trucks loaded with rope ladders, plus four trucks loaded to the top with life preservers headed for Cavite — no doubt preparations for a big assault on The Rock. After occupying Davao for four months, the Japanese landed in Cotabato to open a second front in Mindanao. The islands of Panay and Cebu are occupied but their interiors belong to the USAFFE. I doubt now that the Japanese will land in Port Moresby or Australia though I almost wish they would try. If they can't take Moresby, Australia will be safe. |
