VoF today refuted Japan's claims of the death of Quezon and claimed that Radio Tokyo had even announced MacArthur had him assassinated. At one time or another, Tokyo reported the deaths of MacArthur, Hart, and Quezon; but they are all "hale and hearty." The Japanese propaganda office was killing more people than the army, said the VoF, so why not use the former exclusively to kill off everybody and win the war? Recent Japanese propaganda has been aimed at Australia, and VoF just reported a rumor that a Japanese convoy is heading there. VoF calmly listens to KZRH every day before proceeding to methodically take Japanese propaganda apart. Their 1230 broadcast is never jammed, and comes across clearly on longwave. That, and Radio Cebu's rebroadcast of KGEI news, is our only counter to Japanese propaganda. What we in Manila really wish for is a once a week visit by just one Flying Fortress to drop, say, three tons of bombs on us — just so we can feel the earth shake and the Japanese tremble. That would completely neutralize Japanese propaganda. |
