Worked indexing my clients' positions all day long in a bath of sweat with absolutely no water on tap. Kessler, leaving tomorrow, requested a letter of credit to Pierce, so I biked to Schaer's but he was gone. I'll see him tomorrow at 0900 — he's leaving too. Made a couple of trips to the Menzi well for water in the day. Later, I took Maria Paz and Charito Sotelo for a merienda at the "Blue Bird." It was a fizzle — hot inside and no ice or cold drinks available. Back to indexing in the evening until the Connors came to say goodbye — they're leaving today. Now sweating by candlelight again. All Manila is praying for a thunderstorm.
