While the U.S. Navy is keeping quiet, Radio Tokyo is on a propaganda blitz on recent sinkings, including now a "fourth" American battleship. Tribune: "Five more enemy warships blasted off Bougainville." Page 1: "Feat Comparable to Pearl Harbor.... Germany Hails New Nippon Victory in Pacific; U.S. mum." Splashes: "It looks as though the U.S. navy is getting sunk wherever and whenever it meets Nippon's." (Not one ship is named in all the articles.) E.M.: "That these great victories are real, genuine, and epochal can be substantiated by the way various nations of Southeast Asia are being liberated one by one." (None in the past year.) Commentator: "Japan decisively wins war in South Pacific Area"! |
