Tribune: "Drive Opens in Burma.... The Nippon units are advancing and crushing the enemy at several points." The "large scale offensive" begun on October 10, but the article is vague and doesn't say they've gone anywhere. E.M. changes "Our Tomorrow" to "Our Today": Of late, the newsreels are showing many scenes which theater goers should greet with hearty, if not thundering applause. Surely the owners of those eyes which were moist at the time of the flag-raising ceremony on Thursday have hands which they can use for clapping. He says thousands cried with joy in the flag raising ceremony. Well, they certainly weren't smiling. |
