Tribune: "Vargas recommends Laurel for President." It's an obvious attempt to insert a campaign element into the affair, to whip up some interest and enthusiasm where there's none. It's said that the Presidency was offered to Roxas, who replied with four doctor's certificates. So it was offered to Vargas and he recommended Laurel because nobody else wanted the Presidency, except maybe Aquino. La Vanguardia talks about a grand parade tomorrow with 12 bands. It seems that past paraders didn't make enough noise. |
