La Vanguardia: "Nippon exits Kiska ... Peaceful transfer of the entire garrison is without parallel in history." They say we wasted a lot of bombs on an empty island since they left two weeks earlier under cover of foggy weather. The news confirms Americans landed in Kiska on August 15 and found signs of a hasty evacuation — the Japanese are out of the Aleutians.
