"Nippon Wild Eagles raid Port Rendova." They sink 1 large, 4 medium and 6 small transports, 1 destroyer and 6 landing barges as well as damaging a cruiser and downing 4 enemy planes. For all that, they lost 2 planes, "which dived on enemy objectives." The Commentator tried to explain how Germany would crush any allied landing attempt in Europe. I stopped reading it after this: "Fuehrer Adolf Hitler of Germany, who is a born genius in strategy...." Incidentally, some of the Germans here are still clinging to hope. They hang on to details like the number of U.S. planes lost over Rumania or the Russians calling up the class of '88. |
