Tribune: "Vatican Protests Bombing of Rome." Read further and it says, "A strong and vigorous protest is believed to have been made." Picture caption: "The Basilica of San Lorenzo, schools, clinics and cultural institutions were wrecked during the bombing." The fact is, the Pope did not protest — and won't. The shootings seem to have died down in Manila, but every time a car backfires, as they do so often enough these days, everybody winces. Speaking of cars, the molasses they're being given, which is supposed to be alcohol, is clogging the carburetors and the roads are littered with stopped vehicles. |
