Tribune: "Laurel given full authority to organize PCPI committees." Without him, the PCPI would have died a natural death — Roxas refused the position; Yulo and Recto are not pro-Japanese. Laurel's star has been on the rise since Tojo's visit — just in time to be the figurehead of the puppet government. No one else would have had the credibility. Laurel thinks it's the best way he can help the Philippines — and himself. Pio Duran is lucky he doesn't sleep at home. Guerrillas went there the other night with pistols and hand-grenades. Don't ask how I know. I scooped the town today with news that we've landed in New Georgia, eight kilometers from Munda. |
