Some Filipinos find the New Year celebrations a convenient time to settle old scores. On December 31, a Filipino military officer was shot near Oroquieta. Ramon knew him by sight — said he was trouble and heard someone claim he would be "got." Sencio confirmed the story. The victim used to be with our secret service, was kicked out and got "in" with the Japanese. He sold out several Filipinos for tuning in radios. He was shot from across the street as firecrackers masked the noise. |
