Smart article by one smart Federico Mangahas on the release of a couple of Filipino prisoners, driven to their release point, incidentally, by American POWs. All the prisoners to be released had numbered tags corresponding to those of their guarantors. As they walked to their assigned places of meeting, they constituted something like the march of the dead. It was as if after lying in their graves for some time, they were called to arise.... Dropped in at the horse races in the afternoon and found everyone talking about Good News. Well, "Good News" was the favorite horse that won the first race of the Daily Double, but everyone was really talking about Anglo-Indian troops entering Burma, and not the horse. |
