Tribune eyewitness story: A commander of a Japanese unit sank an aircraft carrier with one bomb and crashed purposely into a destroyer (being on fire himself) sinking that too. Another pilot found himself in flames — and "although the pilot failed to reach an enemy aircraft carrier, he dove into an enemy cruiser. Struck in a vital point, the cruiser blew up within a few seconds." A third Japanese flyer, despite being badly damaged, "collided head on with the carrier, delivering a fatal blow." All very easy — three planes sank two aircraft carriers, a cruiser and a destroyer all in one afternoon. And Maurice at home is reading fiction! |
