Reports from Panay say the guerrillas are in control of most of the island. The Japanese are apparently unwilling or unable to go after them. What's Hemady in Fort Santiago for? Well, Ismael & Company sold P150,000 worth of goods to the Japanese. When Hemady (the company president) showed them the bill, the Japanese tore it up, charging the goods were looted. Hemady got sore and pressed for payment. Fifty days after the event, it's Radio Tokyo's turn to explain that a torpedo hit the Wasp's magazine, exploding the ship. The announcer almost shouted in excitement that "2,000 men were killed including those in the ships magazine." |
