There's nothing but the usual bland propaganda in La Vanguardia except for the "Final attack in Stalingrad." L. R. Aguinaldo and six directors of his company were arrested and taken to Fort Santiago yesterday. All but one were released pending investigation. Officially, it's about profiteering; but a story doing the rounds says an old newspaper they used for wrapping had a cartoon insulting the emperor and this fell into indiscrete hands. Undoubtedly, Aguinaldo was playing a double game; cottoning up to the Japanese and even taking advantage of them. |
