Spent the day in an endless search for medicines, coming up with dead ends, a few crooks, and some warm-hearted men. Prices varied considerably on what was available, but Inhelder, a true patriot, gave us some at cost price. Sister Georgia of the Maryknoll Sisters tells me they are buying from Gabby and others every day. Even doctors are giving some of their private stocks for Cabanatuan. The Halls and McMickings found and packed enough serum in ice to save 50 to 60 Cabanatuan patients. Found out that Red Cross nurses are smuggling notes out of the hospital. |
