This prompted the mayor to praise the members of his staff who carried out the work, especially former Concilor Eustaquio Balagtas, Siro Minagawa, the [cough] mayors's private secretary; Dr. Mariano C. Icasiano, city health officer, and José Figueras, assistant to the mayor. La Vanguardia reports "Alexandria is about to fall." Tomorrow being the 4th of July, the usual silly rumors of a bombing or some other event have started to circulate. |
