Not much on the news: the Nazis have entered Sevastopol but the Russians only speak of "colossal German losses." The Taiwan Electric Power Company has taken over control and management of all electrical utilities in the Philippines. The Tribune says that holders of bank safety deposit boxes must lodge a list of items contained therein to the Japanese Military Administration by the 10th, and present themselves to the banks on the 15th. I was just stepping out of the store this afternoon when eight Japanese army nurses came in like a hurricane. They didn't care that the store was just about to close, and flew in all directions touching everything and making a mess. After 20 minutes I was groggy and the store was a mess — who said they were meek? They didn't buy much; sales have been terrible. Who has money nowadays? |
