Benny Gaberman told me that he heard indirectly from Major Dan Smothers, my perennial softball rival at the Polo Club, that the POWs at Cabanatuan are getting better treatment overall, including three meals a day (Dan gained 20 pounds since Bataan). The only thing missing is medical treatment; "if you get sick, it's just too bad." At least I know that Joe is getting fed.
