A new station named "Juan de la Cruz" [the Filipino equivalent of John Doe] is broadcasting thrice daily at 0700, 1300 and 2000. The speaker addresses Tojo and Homma in the most deprecating manner. A sample:

It's been a long time since I've ridden in a car, streetcar or carretela. I did all three today to get to Harrison Park and back to play softball for the Squires Bingham team. Going down Dewey, we passed a parked truck carrying the burnt out skeleton of the front end of a dive-bomber. The driver, standing a few feet in front of the truck, nonchalantly pointed to the load and said: "Jap plane." They are shipping wrecks to Japan for scrap metal — proof of the shortage there.
