Yesterday's Sunday News: "Midway battle mere feint for landing in Aleutians." Sure, they sacrificed three carriers for landings in two sparsely occupied islands in the western tip of the Aleutians. Today's Tribune confirms the sinking of the Saratoga by the propaganda corps yesterday — with pictures. "Dramatic photo of the U.S. aircraft carrier of the Saratoga type, extreme right, taken as it received a direct hit of aerial torpedoes and burst into flames before it plunged into its watery grave." I couldn't see the ship, torpedo hits or flames in the photo; only water. |
