Sabotage is still going on. Last week it was a fire in Pateros, yesterday it was an explosion in the Pacific Motors Company — now a Japanese machine shop where some gas and airplane motors were being kept. The fire was quickly put out. Non-stop shelling of Corregidor continued throughout the day. Homma ordered the lifting of the blackout in Manila due to the "complete annihilation of the enemy air forces in the Philippines." Streetlights were back on tonight for the first time this year. Japanese troops stormed positions in Mount Pinatubo. Someone from the area told me there are 10 American officers leading guerrillas there. He knows because on some nights, "they return home to rest and eat." |
