Still no water as I write this, and boy do I need a bath! Tribune: "Six foe transports, 4 warships blasted off Lingayen" — claims one battleship was sunk, the 33rd so far.

"Guinto acts to counteract rising prices." It's the joke of the day because rice reached P20,000 a sack and carabao meat P600 a kilo.

Explosions and shooting at night continue, but nobody has details. The Japanese are a sketch even at this late date. Some officers are going around demanding chickens while others are giving away rice, sugar and even pigs. In matters of food they show as little consideration for each other as they do on the highways.

The Lingayen beachhead is officially 22 miles wide and 20 miles inland. No great land battle has been fought so far.
