Tribune: "Attack on U.S. Convoy Pressed; 9 more vessels sunk, damaged" — from the night of the 28th to the afternoon of the 29th.

"Year 1944 a milestone in history of republic, says Laurel in his message" — from his unknown location, delivered by unknown means to unknowns. Who ever heard of a President playing hide-and-seek from his own people?

"Guinto Urges Immediate Evacuation ... says food plentiful in provinces." The Japanese would like nothing more than for us to evacuate with them to the north (the roads south are closed). The people who are still here won't leave now.

The Editorial is titled: "As the Year Passes." Choice quote: "No one can deny, however, that the Republic of the Philippines has accomplished much during the past troubled 12 months." Not one of such accomplishments could be named, eh?
