The Japanese have taken all of the Crystal Arcade and Calvo Buildings on the Escolta, giving everyone just 48 hours to get out! A mess ensued as everyone fought for trucks and pushcarts. It cost Dad P4,000 to hire 3 pushcarts and 8 laborers for the day. I worked all afternoon moving things home.
