Tribune (Tokyo, January 18): "347 enemy planes downed over Rabaul since January 1." The Japanese lost only 16. For every 22 Allied planes downed, the Japanese lost one that "failed to return or crashed against enemy objectives." "Cabinet forms pacification committees. Ministers will Tour Luzon, hold amnesty meetings." That's the tenth pacification drive and the sixth "ultimatum" — and there'll be more even after the amnesty period expires. |
