The POWs at Pasay Elementary will have a Christmas feast of turkey, cranberry sauce, sweet peas and sweet potatoes. The credit goes to Mrs. Welhaven and others, who collected P25,000 in cash and equivalent from the likes of Tabacalera, E. Santamaria and several large Swiss firms. At Santo Tomas Kato insisted that female internees should till and plant vegetables in the empty lawn in front of the Seminary. An attempt was made on the Spanish Consul's life here a week to ten days ago. A Constabulary man and a special policeman were on hand for protection. The culprits didn't enter the home but fired from outside. |
