Tribune: "Filipinos take initial step toward future Republic as voters go to the polls in nationwide election for the first time under New Order." Only officers and members of provincial, municipal, cities and district committees will vote. The people can't vote and don't care, but that won't stop the Japanese from claiming that there is keen nationwide interest in it. KZRH will even broadcast "flashes" of the voting. Commentator: "Churchill's absence shows England's desperate plight." He hasn't returned from his August 10 visit to Quebec, you see, and our Commentator knows what he's up to. Because of "Hitler's genius ... it is England rather than Germany which has become endangered."
