Rackets: The canned milk supposed to be retailed to mothers at prewar prices is turning up at restaurants after passing through several hands. Cigarettes marked "Compliments of American Red Cross" are being sold downtown for P3 a pack. A source obtained a note from the pier detailing how the Japanese take medicines and cigarettes from parcels meant for the internees and prisoners. Another added that the Japanese Army's P50,000 donation of medicines to local hospitals really came from these parcels. |
