The city is very quiet and Manilans are planning to stay home on the 29th. Many are being "obliged" to buy Japanese flags (two centavos each). Homes in Ermita and Pasay will have to display flags. Or else... And just in case anyone has any funny ideas, the Japanese warned that they would be watching out for acts of blasphemy against this sacred object.

Mr. Palomar of the Harvard Club confirmed that the Japanese are mistreating even Filipino POWs by refusing to have medicine or food except camote [sweet potatoes] and rice sent to them. Cases of dysentery are on the increase as Japanese soldiers use dirty hands to feed the soldiers.
