A shelling duel is on with Corregidor blasting Cavite, Naic, and Ternate every day. The Japanese have been calling their firing, "antiaircraft target practice," to everyone's amusement. They're also patrolling the bay with launches to prevent supplies of food from entering Corregidor. Fishermen have been told to avoid the area. Heavy shelling at Bataan tonight must have hit an ammunition dump at one point because the reverberations continued for a while. A Japanese civilian went into Abolafia's store and slapped him a couple of times because he was only 90% through with marking prices on his goods. The dear old man has a speech impediment and difficulty seeing even with glasses. Marking at our store is only 75% done and may never be fully complete as we have too many small items. |
